Sugardrum on Bandcamp

I’ve recently set up a page on Bandcamp for my musical endeavours. It’s got 2 Free EPs to download, a Free live Album from a recent house concert and my latest EP, Where Once Were Roads to buy which was previously only available on iTunes.

You can find it at http://sugardrum.bandcamp.com/

Oh, and if anyone would like to have us play at a house concert then do please get in touch.

Recent work…

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

I’ve been fortunate to be busy with some regular web work for a well known travel client over the past few months so not had much time or the need to do any freelance projects, hence the lack of updates on here.

I have done a couple of projects for friends of mine where they have designed and created mockups of the sites themselves which I’ve then coded for them and also done some work on my own music site which involved both design and coding, all summarised below:

This is my own personal site showcasing my musical projects. I redesigned it about a year ago but there were various parts of it that I hadn’t had time to finish, so this is what I did recently. The end design looks more complete than the previous one and compliments well with the new Sugardrum Bandcamp site.

Matt did the design of this site himself, creating mockups of each page which I then went away and coded up for him, creating a small admin system for him to update sections of it himself.

Earthsong provide multicultural music workshops for schools. This was another site where the client designed and created mockups of each page themselves, which I then coded up for them. This proved to be quite a challenge, converting the graphically rich designs to look good yet not taking ages to display on the browser. Various techniques were employed to do this and the end result manages to download reasonably quicky on most broadband connections whilst still retaining the look of the original mockups.

sugardrum - where once were roads
I’ve got a new EP coming out on iTunes, amazon and about a dozen other sites next Friday called ‘Where Once Were Roads”. It takes about 6 -8 weeks to get your music on these sites and fortunately I had just enough time to get everything ready before I went away to India. Unfortunately I ran out of time to send off any promo CDs, do some kind of gig launching the EP or do pretty much anything to promote the EPs arrival into the big wide world of downloadables.

What I have did time to do though is get my previous 2 EPs available as a FREE DOWNLOAD from the lovely Pondlife Studios website.

sugardrum - an absence of friendssugardrum - 1 of 1

here’s a quote from a review losingtoday.com did about them:

…this church like beauty equipped with hushed vocals and the lull of watery guitars is a gorgeously laid back life affirming pop portrait that emerges from its initial fog bound haze into a quietly majestic and measured aching love note. ’Absence of friends’ the title track is without doubt the jewel in the crown, flighty pastoral florets, vocals a la Tim Buckley and a stately fragile persona make this a touching gem in the making, the shy eyed undulating craftsmanship giving way to the sumptuous moments of flowering vibrancy of the beautifully conceived bouquets of Nick Drake like thoughtfulness
